Welcome to Adding Varnish in Pyrography!

It’s time to Varnish your pieces. We are going to cover six different ways to protect and coat your pieces. Danish Oil, Wipe-On Poly, Spar, Butcher Block, Lacquer, and Kamar and UV spray.

Let’s dive right in and start coating your pieces.

THINGS TO REMEMBER WHEN VARNISHING:

  1. Make sure you are applying varnish to a clean surface. Wipe off any excess particles before varnishing.
  2. Lightly Sand the piece in between coats. A fine grit sand paper sponge is a great resource for this. Apply very light pressure to knock of any rough surfaces between coats.
  3. Safety. Wear gloves and a mask when varnishing or any necessary equipment that the varnish instructions suggest.

1. Lacquer

2. Butcher Block Conditioner

3. Danish Oil

4. Wipe-On Poly

5. Kamar and UV Varnish

6. Spar Urethane
